It’s been a long, quiet year as our CBD music scene settled into Covid hibernation.

Get your ears ready, all that is about to change with live music returning to our streets, cafes and venues this Summer.

CBD Sounds is a live music program supported by Wollongong City Council. With restrictions easing, we’ve partnered with talented local musicians, producers, and venues to offer a program of FREE music running right through Christmas and into 2021.

Retro Groove in Globe Lane

LIVE @ LUNCH

Every Wednesday lunchtime, the Illawarra Folk Club presents light-hearted acoustic tunes from favourites including Jocean and Somesing Laik Zat, on the Crown Street Mall stage.

Every Thursday lunchtime, catch mellow jazz artists from the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music on the Crown Street Mall stage.

Every Saturday lunchtime, enjoy chilled-out beats on the Crown Street Mall stage from a mix of local artists.

LIVE @ LUNCH CAROLS

On Saturday 19th December, 20 singers from the Wollongong Harmony Chorus will bring their festive cheer to the Crown St Mall Stage, with an a cappella Christmas carols performance.

LIVE NIGHTS

Every Friday night – mellow acoustics at The Swallowed Anchor. 6pm- 9pm.

Every Saturday night – smooth guitar sounds at Pot of Gold Mexican Cantina. 7:30pm – 10:30pm.

LIVE IN THE LANE

Every Sunday afternoon – funky jazz, blues and rock at Retro Groove. 1pm – 4pm.

CROWN ST TAKEOVER II by DJ BREDA

400 lucky punters embraced the return of music to the Creative Container deck, with four alt-rock and punk offerings across November from Scabz, Satin Cali, Scab Baby and Step-Panther.
